How to Migrate an Existing Minecraft Server to Seedarc
Use this migration checklist to move a Minecraft world, plugins, mods, and settings to Seedarc hosting.
A Minecraft migration is mostly a file and version-management task. The safest approach is to inventory the old server, prepare the new environment, test privately, and only then move players across.
Record the current environment
Note the Minecraft version, server software and build, Java requirements, plugins or mods, database connections, ports, and startup settings. Save a copy of configuration files and export any external database content you control.
Create a final source backup
Announce a maintenance window, stop the old server cleanly, and take a final archive. This prevents player progress from splitting between two copies. Keep the original archive unchanged until the migration is accepted.
Prepare Seedarc
Select compatible server software in the game panel and complete one clean start. Upload the world folders, extension files, and configuration. Do not overwrite a working installation blindly; compare paths and filenames first.
Validate before changing the address
Join the new server privately and check:
- Spawn and important world locations
- Player inventories and ender chests
- Permissions and staff roles
- Plugins, mods, and databases
- Nether and End dimensions
- Scheduled tasks and backups
Review the console for warnings that did not appear to players.
Complete the cutover
Update the server address or DNS only after testing. Keep the old instance offline but available during the initial observation period. Tell players when the move is complete and where to report problems.
Seedarc's panel provides file, console, backup, database, and scheduling tools for the destination server. A staged process takes longer than a direct copy, but it greatly reduces surprises and avoidable downtime.
